Encounter Ministry
What Is An Encounter?
An Encounter is a Spirit led time of prayer and conversation to make sure our relationship with God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) is not being hindered. Many times we become stuck in our walk when we are offended, or experience pain and hurt in our walk with the Lord.
An Encounter is a time to identify where we are stuck and to find freedom from our past. This is primarily accomplished by releasing forgiveness to those who have hurt us. An Encounter will walk you through a healthy way of forgiving and releasing those who have caused hurt and pain in our lives. An Encounter greatly re-energizes our walk with God and allows the healing of His Spirit to come into those places as He reveals them.
What Can I Expect?
When you arrive, you will be walked through everything that will happen in your Encounter. You can expect a safe environment with a team that will honor your privacy. Your Encounter will be a Spirit-led time that consists mainly of prayers and releasing forgiveness to the foundational relationships in our lives.
As the Spirit leads, you will be walked through prayers to release forgiveness. You only have to repeat when you agree with what is being said. You also have the freedom to pray your own prayer as you feel led.
You can expect Holy Spirit to speak to you and help you identity places where you have been stuck. You will be guided through the process of rejecting lies and embracing the truth of God over your life.
We meet with individuals only (not couples, friends, or family members together). For accountability and prayer support, we have two people from our team in an Encounter. The sessions generally last one and a half to two hours. Though we do not charge for these sessions we encourage and suggest an offering of $50 per session towards the ministry as a donation towards the training, development and up building of the ministry team.
Encounters are open to all Harbour members upon request, on a first-come first-serve basis. Certain exceptions can be made on a case by case basis. To schedule an Encounter, email encounter@harbourchurch.org including the dates and times you are available. Encounters are available as early as 10am and as late as 7pm during the week.
How To Get Involved
If you have a heart to minister inner healing and serve the body, we would love to have you as part of the Encounter core team. All of our core team members are provided with training, which is held throughout the year. Gui Kerr oversees the Encounter Ministry and conducts the trainings. Before attending a training session, you will need to have completed the Harbour DNA course.
